A fortnightly letter
Making AI Real
For leaders carrying the weight of AI inside a real organisation. One idea worth ten minutes, one real problem a leader brought me and the route through it, three developments that still matter in a month, and one thing for your next board conversation. No hype, no jargon.
MAKING AI REAL
A fortnightly letter for leaders who have to make AI real.
Hi James,
Where will your next leaders learn judgement?
AI multiplies ideas at the very moment it dissolves the junior roles that build them, and the experience that makes future judgement…
THREE SIGNALS
Adoption is universal. Reliability is not.
88% of organisations now use AI, yet agent deployment is still in single digits.
What lands in each issue
The Lead
One idea worth ten minutes, on the leadership questions AI is really asking of you.
The Unlock
One real problem a leader brought me, anonymised, and the route through it.
Three Signals
Three developments that will still matter in a month, each with its operational so-what.
Managing Upward
One line, slide, or question for your next conversation with the board.
Worth Your Time
One thing to read, follow, or listen to before the next issue.
Who it is for
The CxO, divisional lead, or transformation lead who has been told to make AI real, has a P&L or a function to protect while doing it, and has about ninety minutes a week to spend on it. You are past needing convincing that AI matters. The open question is what to do on Monday, and how to keep the board with you while you do it.
I write it as someone who has sat in those seats. I spent years on the executive committees of BP, Wärtsilä, and Thomas Cook, and I build with the tools I write about.
